Chair of Ventura County Democratic Party John Griffin Endorses Bryan Caforio
Commends Caforio’s Commitment to Progressive Values
Santa Clarita, Calif. – Today, Bryan Caforio, candidate for Congress in California’s 25th District, announced the endorsement of John Griffin, Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party. California’s 25th District is the last Republican-held district in all of Ventura County.
“Bryan Caforio’s commitment to Ventura County families makes him an exceptional leader who will stand up and fight for our community,” said John Griffin, Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party. “I’m excited to work with Bryan as we strengthen our economy and work to provide universal healthcare to everyone in our county.”
A twenty-year resident of Ventura County, John Griffin is a lifelong Democrat. He twice served as the President of the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley and now serves as Treasurer. Prior to becoming Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party, he served as First Vice-Chair and Fundraising Chair.
“I’m thrilled to have John Griffin’s support as we work to turn Ventura County blue,” said Bryan Caforio. “John has been a tireless advocate for the progressive values that will bring well-paying jobs, affordable health care, and quality schools to everyone throughout our community.”
Caforio is proud to have strong support from every corner of the 25th District. Dozens of local elected and appointed officials came together to endorse Caforio, along with Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom. He also counts endorsements from multiple labor unions, including the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Welders Local 761, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 40, Sheet Metal Workers Local 105, the United Aerospace Workers Local 887, and the United Steelworkers Los Angeles and Orange County Legislative Education Committee. Almost a year and a half before the election, polling shows that Caforio is tied with one of the country’s most vulnerable Republican incumbents.
The son of two public school teachers, Caforio was born and raised in Southern California, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks and corporations. Bryan lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
California’s 25th Congressional District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County, including the Santa Clarita Valley, Antelope Valley, and Simi Valley. Hillary Clinton won the district by more than six points in 2016, registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans, and the district is majority-minority. The district is now considered a “toss-up” and is held by Tea Party Republican Steve Knight, whom national Republicans have publicly identified as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
