Bryan Caforio: Steve Knight Proud of Inaction on Porter Ranch Gas Leak

Valencia, Calif. – Today Bryan Caforio, candidate for California’s 25th Congressional District, responded to Representative Steve Knight’s op-ed published in the Los Angeles Daily News that attempts to explain his silence on the Porter Ranch crisis.

“While our neighbors in Porter Ranch continue to breathe air poisoned with noxious methane gas, Steve Knight just admitted that he chose to do nothing about the environmental disaster,” said Caforio. “Steve Knight says he is leading from behind on the Porter Ranch Gas Leak. It’s too bad that it’s behind one of his largest donors Sempra Energy, putting their financial interests over the rights of displaced families in his district. Our community deserves a representative that will put them first.”

Caforio was born and raised in Southern California by two public school teachers, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and is currently a partner at Susman Godfrey L.L.P. where he practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks. Bryan lives in Valencia with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. The district is a toss-up in a Presidential election year. President Obama won the district in 2008 and Mitt Romney barely won it in 2012. Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most vulnerable.
